Fireworks

The burst of light

the sound of fright

of a fire in fight

in the darkness of night

Colours ignite

a fascination in sight

as pupils rejoice

at sparks abright

Not a smile

nor a cry

but wonder arrives

 in shining eyes undisguised

Green and pink

blue and red

in black, they bled

into eyes they fed

In a life too plain

of things mundane

the sparks did spark

an allure to cure.

In that moment

in that spark

in that sweet deafening sound

in that red

in that green

in that black and white

that glowed to life

in that colourful light

I remained, I remained

stagnant in time

rescued from life

in that sparkling wonder of night
